Undergraduate Research Assistants
A position for independent study (199) is available with possible extension into a paid research position. The student will help in sample preparation, analysis, and possibly collection of atmospheric aerosols for field campaigns. Analytical methods will primarily involve particle collection and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy analysis but may include operation of other instruments for environmental monitoring. Prior laboratory coursework or experience preferred but not required; extended participation in post-campaign analysis may also be invited. The position and the physical location of the laboratory is at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography; the student will primarily train, work, and produce results with a research assistant in Professor Lynn Russell’s group. For general group research activities visit our Research Topics page. Please send inquiries or applications (with cover letter and CV in a single PDF) to lmrussell@ucsd.edu.
